Emeraldshire Overview and History

One of the most noticeable things you will find is Emeraldshire society is naturist and nudist. Clothing is hardly ever worn with the exceptions of protection or ceremony. For example you would wear a thick apron and safety glasses and fireproof gloves if you were a blacksmith. Mostly accessories such as necklaces, bracelets, anklets, are the extent of someone’s clothing. Belts and Pouches are worn to be able to carry tools and other items for the task at hand. The culture in Emeraldshire is very envirocentric. Modern technology does not exist, at least in the same way that it does on Earth. Anything that would pollute the planet such as fossil fuels and strip mining does not exist here. Medicine and Food is very much nature based and lacks the chemicals and other preservatives that exist in our modern world. The elderly are respected and revered, since they have a world of experience and wisdom and are the ones that lead the villages.

There is full equality of the sexes and genders, and one’s sex or gender is very much deemphasized compared to Earth. Only during reproduction is the sexes emphasized. The world has very narrow sexual dimorphism so everyone looks feminine with long hair, and a curvyish figure compared to the differences in the way human males and females look. Same sex pairs are not seen as unusual or “wrong” as people tend to do on Earth. There is no need to ‘come out of the closet’ because there was never a reason to be closeted in the first place. Changing gender is also much much easier here, due to the narrow sexual dimorphism. It doesn’t take a lot of extra work to pass. There are high level magic rituals to complete the transformation.

Originally in Emeraldshire, all animals were feral, as in they were exactly the same as the animals on earth. Over millennia they evolved to be upright and take on the anthropomorphic shape they have today. Those early animals were violent, fought a lot over territory, food, and land. After a very large war known as “the great death” those that survive swore that never again will there be such a fight that leads to so much death and destruction. Animals of different kinds begun to work together, this time period is known as the “Second Evolution”. The basic foundations of the communal villages were founded at this time. Over time the more violent and killer instinct of the animals was bred and evolved out of the animals, which ensures a peaceful and cooperative world.

Emeraldshire is peaceful and prosperous. It is thanks to cooperation and a mutual love and care for the planet and its inhabitants that is deeply ingrained into the culture. Despite the lack of the modern technology you would find on earth, they live happy and fulfilling lives deeply connected to nature and the land they come from.
